Ford Issues Safety Recall for Side-Quarter Glass on 86,000 Mustang Mach-E Vehicles

Ford Motor Company has filed a safety recall covering approximately 86,543 model-year 2023–2025 Mustang Mach-E vehicles. NHTSA campaign number 26V487000, dated July 28, 2026, describes window glass trim pieces that may detach while the vehicle is in motion—a condition that could create a road-hazard risk for trailing traffic.

Ford traced the root cause to a revised assembly jig introduced during production. The jig change prevented the proper application of primer to the bonding surface of the rear side-quarter window trim, weakening the adhesive bond between the trim component and the vehicle body.

Ford and NHTSA have classified the issue under the "Structure: Exterior Trim" defect category. Vehicles covered by the recall span three model years and represent a substantial portion of Mach-E production during that period. NHTSA campaign 26V487000 was opened based on Ford's own Part 573 safety-recall report.

Affected owners will be notified by mail and directed to Ford dealerships, where technicians will inspect the rear side-quarter window trim and reseal or replace it at no cost.
