PGW Auto Glass and Car ADAS Solutions Partner to Connect Glass Shops With Calibration Centers

A partnership announced on October 21, 2024, between PGW Auto Glass and Car ADAS Solutions addressed a practical challenge for small glass shops: how to handle ADAS calibration when the shop lacks the equipment, space, or volume to justify in-house calibration investment. PGW's Everything Autoglass business management platform would integrate calibration scheduling through Car ADAS Solutions' nationwide network of calibration centers.

PGW Auto Glass is a Pennsylvania-based auto glass distributor; Car ADAS Solutions is a Utah-based company focused on ADAS training and consulting. Under the collaboration, shops using the Everything Autoglass platform would be able to see that a job requires post-replacement calibration and directly schedule the customer's vehicle at a Car ADAS Solutions calibration center—all within the same platform workflow.

PGW's director of business technologies and sales, Mark Cossey, said the partnership was specifically designed for shops without their own calibration setup. "We're not trying to infringe on that in any way," he said regarding shops with existing calibration capabilities. "All we're trying to do is allow shops, including one-man shops, an affordable way of getting the customer taken care of and getting their car calibrated."

The one-man-shop reference was significant: the partnership's value proposition is strongest for the smallest operators, who may do technically excellent glass replacement work but cannot afford the calibration equipment, the space requirements, and the ongoing training that in-house ADAS calibration demands. For those shops, an integrated referral pathway to a professional calibration center enables them to offer the complete service to customers without the capital investment.

Car ADAS Solutions brings a network of calibration centers to the partnership, giving referred shops geographic coverage across multiple markets. The arrangement also generates revenue for the calibration partner while enabling the glass shop to complete the customer relationship with a vetted referral rather than leaving the customer to find their own calibration provider.

The PGW-Car ADAS Solutions model is likely to be replicated by other distributor-calibration partnerships as the ADAS calibration requirement becomes universal across the vehicle fleet. Shops should evaluate whether their current distributor relationships include calibration referral resources or whether pursuing a structured referral arrangement would benefit their customer service model.
